The Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The Tree of Life is such an amazing experience whether you see it in the day or at night. During the day, you can explore the paths around the tree, all while you can see the amazing carved animals throughout, which wind around and bring you to the underside where you can see It's Tough to be a Bug! 3D film and live show and boy are you in for a surprise! At night, there's an amazing light/movie show that is projected onto the tree. It truly is a sight to see!

Take a Closer Look at the Tree of Life

The Tree of Life stands 145 feet tall, but the size isn’t the only thing that makes it impressive. Look closely at the trunk and roots and you’ll start spotting animals carved throughout the tree. You can also explore the Discovery Island Trails around the Tree of Life for a closer view of the carvings and the wildlife found around the area.

You can find the Tree of Life on Discovery Island in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It’s certainly hard to miss, but don’t just use it as a landmark on your way to the next attraction. Take a few minutes to walk around it and look at the details up close.

2026 Update: Disney’s Animal Kingdom has changed since this post was originally written in 2023. It’s Tough to Be a Bug! has closed and has been replaced by Zootopia: Better Zoogether! inside the Tree of Life. Animal Kingdom also currently closes earlier on many dates, so guests may not have the opportunity to see the Tree of Life after dark. Be sure to check the park hours for your travel dates when planning your visit.
